The New Year's Grand Festival of 2008.
The Everland Himang Hanmadang(or The Everland Grand Event for Hopes).
The new year's first festival "Himang Hanmadang" will open in a theme of 'the traditional culture to be recreated in modern flavors'.
Fan dancing, farm band musics, and the 'DoongDoong Wish Celebration', a new parade featuring characters will be performed.
A fusion musical 'Korea Fantasy' will be presented together with the performances of Ogomu(five-drums dancing) and 6 Modumbuks(6 assorted drums).
A 'Himang Namu' or a wish tree will be set up for people to hang new year's wish slips on.
A 41 x 20 meters rectangular kite made of 'Cheongsa Chorongs' or lanterns covered with blue silk in the middle and with red silk at both ends will appear on the scene.
Duration: 62 days from January 1, 2008 through March 2, 2008.

The Everland new year's festival "Himang Hanmadang" is designed to recreate the traditional culture in modern flavors, and intended to creatively interpret, inherit and develop the diminishing Korean traditional culture. Major keywords such as fan dancing, jegichagi(a shuttlecock kicking), wish-slip hanging, and hanboks symbolizing the traditional culture are sublimated into parades and musical performances as unique entertainments of the theme park. The Everland "Himang Hanmadang" is characterized by festival contents of visitors participation by their seeing, feeling, touching, and doing something. It is possible for visitors to learn naturally Korean culture by doing and participating in such ways different from just sightseeing the old things.

During the Himang Hanmadang or a grand event for hopes, a new parade 'DoongDoong Wish Celebration' will be presented in concert with the performances of farm music players and fan dancing groups, and in addition, a fusion musical 'Korea Fantasy' will make its debut together with Ogomu and Modumbuks playing.
In the festival plaza, there will be installed a wish tree or a 'Sowon Namu' or a 'Himang Namu' wheron the visitors will be able to hang their new year's wish slips. There will be also set up in the plaza a huge rectangular kite made of 'Cheongsa Chorongs' so that visitors may want to have their commemorative photos taken in front of the kite. Besides, play grounds will be provided for participative events of traditional folk plays like Sogochigi(druming little buks), Sabangchigi(a stone-piece playing on the ground walking with only one foot), Biseokchigi(hitting the target of a standing stone), Tuhonori(throwing arrows into a jar), Jegichagi(a shuttlecock kicking) and so on.
A New Parade 'DoongDoong Wish Celebration'
The Everland will present the 'DoongDoong Wish Celebration' parade opening on January 1, 2008 on the occasion of the new year of a mouse. There will appear on the scene a total of 67 characters including farm music players, fan dancing group, characters, and circus troupe. The parade will start with the farm music playing or 'Nong Ak' featuring an emotional 'Samulnori' or playing of four things(instruments) of Kkwaengwari(a small gong), Jing(a large gong), Janggu(a sandglass-shaped drum) and Buk(a drum), the harmony of which will create the irresistible sentiment with rhythms and clamorous upbeats so as for visitors to move shoulders up and down of themselves.

A huge buk(drum) of 1 m in thickness and a variety of other buks will appear on the scene together with cute characters from Aesop Village, followed by flagmen with colorful flags in their hands. The parade will be culminated in the scene of fan dancing group who are marching in their grandeur of beautiful hanboks. This will fully display the beauty of Korea and its elegance. The parade will be closed with the appearance of Bagle and Doriel, the characters of the Everland.

A New Musical 'Korea Fantasy'
Another entertainment program from the Everland Himang Hanmadang is 'Korea Fantasy' which will make its debut as a musical of the theme park, demonstrating Korean traditional culture in modern flavors. Main themes of the musical are Korean traditional dances and folk plays, wherein Samulnori is performed together with fan dancing, Ogomu, farm band musics, and Gilnori(preliminary performance on the road to the main tent). 'Korea Fantasy' is characterized by the performance of a variety of Korean traditional folk dances and musics with the visitors' participation, and the Everland characters and Modumbuk playing. The musical begins with the large buk drumming, followed by various dancing in the order of group dancing of Arirang, fan dancing, farm musics, small drum dancing, Sangmo turning, Ganggang Suwolre, Talchum(Masked dancing), and Sajachum(Lion dancing). □ The highlight of 'Korea Fantasy' is the last three and a half minutes of Ogomu splendidly performed by a total of 30 players of 10 men and 20 women. This leads to the finale scene with all performers gathering together in one place in awe of magnificent buk sounds.
A Huge 'Himang Namu' of 4 Meters in Height
A huge 'Himang Namu' or a wish tree of 4 meters in height is installed so that visitors to the Everland will be able to hang their slips of a wish list for the new year on the tree. The idea of Himang Namu is originated from the motive of Korean traditional 'Seonghwangdang'. The tree has a total of 250 strings down on which the wish slips can be attached. Wish slips are distributed from a booth in front of the Himang Namu. At night, the tree radiates colorful illuminations so as to make the unique atmosphere around.
A New Theme Park 'Minsoknori Hanmadang'
The 'Minsoknori Hanmadang' or a grand event for the folk plays in the carnival plaza provides visitors with participative experiences in the folk plays. First of all, a huge 40 x 20 meters rectangular kite structure attracts the eyes of visitors. The excitement of festival is expressed as elevating along with the flying kite. Visitors tend to favor posing for their own pictures in front of the kite.

Participation in the 'Minsoknori Hanmadang' will provide visitors with experiences in five kinds of folk plays such as Sogochigi(drumming small buks), Sabangchigi, Biseokchigi, Jegichagi, and Tuhonori. Not only children but also adults can enjoy the folk plays. As such, families on vacation can enjoy the plays all together. Besides, old-time diceplays like snakes and ladders can be enjoyed.
